We are both chemists by profession, with a passion for making great wine. Moving to Tasmania in 1996, we studied viticulture part-time & made our first wines in the Tamar Valley. After living & working overseas for many years, we returned to the Hunter Valley in 2011 and set about planning & building our new house and winery. After refreshing our winemaking knowledge again at the Kurri TAFE, we made our first Hunter wines in 2012.
We have made a conscious decision not to have our own vineyard (where the fruit quality is restricted to one location / weather events), but prefer to develop good relationships with vignerons producing premium fruit in the best region for each variety.
Our passion is to produce premium wine – to achieve this we source the best fruit, use the best oak and winemaking techniques.
Our approach is very hands on, with parcels of only premium fruit, but with minimal winemaking intervention. We do not use a large “industrial style” processes, all of our wines are made in small batches and are given individual attention and nurturing. We assess every batch and optimise the winemaking style for that individual batch of fruit, to allow the fruit to shine.
